Bob Marley's sons have become overnight fashion models. Ziggy and Stephen were chosen by fashion designer John Varvatos for his Spring 2015 collection. Marley's sons are spitting images of the iconic musician in the ads.
The Marley sons don't need to pose in their underwear to win fans over, unlike Justin Bieber's Calvin Klein campaign. They look good in sleek suits. Marley's sons wear simple suits in the ad campaign. Of course, they add their own flare with their trademark dreadlocks and funky scarves.
John Varvatos spoke about his decision to hire Bob Marley's sons. Varvatos believes that Stephen and Ziggy are just as iconic as Marley himself.
"The Marley family is legendary. Ziggy Marley and Stephen Marley are carrying on this legacy in their own authentic way. Working with them has been incredibly inspiring. They are truly a magical family."Ziggy and Stephen Marley haven't been piggybacking off their father's success. According to The New Age Journal, Ziggy has won several Grammy Awards, along with an Emmy Award for his work as a singer, songwriter and producer. He's also best known for his work as part of Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers.
Stephen "Ragga" Marley is also a member of The Melody Makers. Marley's second eldest son has also won several Grammy Awards of his own, including two as a producer and one for the Best Reggae Album category.
In addition to the sophisticated photos, a documentary-style video directed by Danny Clinch about the Marley sons will debut on JohnVarvatos.com on Feb. 5. The film is set to be released on Bob Marley's 70th birthday.
The Marley sons aren't the only rock stars that have been featured in the John Varvatos' ads. Previous famous names include Franz Ferdinand, Iggy Pop, Ringo Starr, Jimmy Page and Gary Clark Jr., Paul Weller and Miles Kane. While Marley's sons become the newest faces in fashion, Marley's legacy is still everywhere when it comes to merchandise and cannabis products. It's no surprise that Bob Marley has become the face of the marijuana lifestyle. Marley was always outspoken about his marijuana use.
The musician has become the face of Marley Natural, a company that's expected to launch the first global marijuana brand, according to a report on the Inquisitr. Their mission is to produce strains of cannabis that are consistent across the globe as cannabis use increases in acceptance and support for legality.
Marley Natural hopes to become a mainstream consumer brand. It's backed by the same creative forces that launched New Balance and Starbucks Coffee. Brenden Kennedy, CEO of Marley Natural's parent company, Privateer Holding, spoke about his goals for the new brand.
"This is what the end of prohibition looks like. Bob Marley started to push for legalization more than 50 years ago. We're going to help him finish it."[Images by JohnVarvatos.com]
