Iggy Azalea Denies She’s Married To Hefe Wine And Dating Nick Young At The Same Time

Iggy Azalea’s plan to stay away from the drama in 2015 isn’t working out very well so far. That’s because she just had to spend a day in court fighting the claim that she’s actually a married woman.

OK! Magazine reports that the Australian rapper, who is currently dating NBA player Nick Young, was at a Los Angeles federal courthouse on Monday, January 5, to challenge an ex-lover’s divorce filing. Photos show her wearing a conservative black suit, looking glum and upset outside the courthouse.

Rapper Hefe Wine, who was in a relationship with Iggy Azalea for about two years starting in 2008, filed a divorce petition in Texas last fall that named her as his wife. Problem is, Iggy doesn’t remember agreeing to be Hefe’s wife. The question of whether the two got married can’t just be resolved by searching for a marriage certificate, since Texas is one of the few states that recognize common law marriages.

Texas’ Family Code states that two people can have a common law marriage if they agree that they’re married, live together in Texas, and represent themselves to other individuals that they are married to one another.

Hefe’s court documents from October state that he and Iggy “agreed to be married, holding themselves out as man and wife and began residing together in the State of Texas on or about September 2008.”

After he filed for divorce, a spokesperson for Azalea, in a statement to Us Weekly, called the filing a “sham” and a desperate attempt for attention. Her camp made the following statement.

“It’s disappointing that this thief, felon, and fugitive is continuing to use the media to attack Iggy as part of his desperate and despicable attempt to keep himself in the press.”

Besides the marriage claim, Iggy Azalea is also fighting back against Hefe’s claim that they made a sex tape together. Hefe told TMZ in September 2014 that the tape, made with a fully legal and consenting Iggy during their relationship, was stolen from him but he’s willing to cut a deal with Vivid to release it. Iggy denies that she made a sex tape with him.

At the end of 2014, Azalea revealed to fans via Twitter that she has TMJ, temporomandibular joint disorder, and so will concentrate more on looking after herself and staying away from drama.

Hopefully, basketball player Nick Young, whom Iggy Azalea has dated for about a year and just bought a house with, will do a good job of cheering her up from her drama with Hefe Wine.
