NC Parents Turn Their Sons Over to Police After Burglary: A Case Of Tough Love? [Video]

The mom and dad of two teenage boys ages 14 and 15 turned their sons in to the police after discovering they were involved in a burglary in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The boys’ parents went to the Watch Night Service at their local church on New Year’s Eve. The couple had recorded the nightly news to watch at a later time when they returned home, according to ABC 7 News.

It was quite a shock for the parents, who thought their two sons were spending New Year’s Eve with their older sibling, to discover what the boys were really up to that night.

Instead of staying home with their older sibling, as planned, the teens joined up with three other friends for a night of debauchery. The 14-year-old and 15-year-old brothers succumbed to peer pressure, and became part of a robbery at Tech Boyz, according to Parent Dish.

They teens were unaware of the security surveillance cameras that video recorded them stealing cell phones, lap tops, and tablets and destroying Tech Boyz property.

Unfortunately for the teens, on New Year’s Day morning, their parents decided to watch the news they had recorded the night before. The story broke on the news reporting that around 3:30 a.m. Tech Boyz had been robbed and the video of the actual robbery was shown on the news, as reported by ABC 7 News.

The parents immediately recognized their two sons and marched them directly to the Fayetteville police station.

Officer Antoine Kincade told the Fayetteville Observer that the 14-year-old and 15-year-old boys are juveniles and their names will not be released. They are, however, being charged with breaking and entering and larceny through juvenile petitions.

Jesse Hill, the co-owner of Tech Boyz feels for the parents of the teen boys, but is hoping that justice will be served.

“To the ones who turned them in, thank you. I hate if it’s your kids, but thank you for doing the right thing.”

ABC 7 News says Hill goes on to say that he and his business partner “have lost thousands of dollars because of the storefront damage, extra security measures they’ve set in place, and customer reimbursements.” The cell phones stolen belonged to Tech Boyz customers who had dropped them off to be repaired and will have to be replaced by the store owners.

A third teenager, 17-year-old Cameron Woodard of 706 Martindale Drive, has also been charged for his involvment in the break-in. Woodard is being processed in the Cumberland County jail.

Police are still working to identify the remaining two teens from the video as per Fayetteville Observer.

Still trying to get his store back in order from the robbery, Hill spoke out directly to the teens who stole from him per ABC 7 News.

“I hope you learned a lesson.”
