A 10-year-old boy fights to save his toddler sister from the jaws of a dog dragging her around a garden for 10 minutes. The harrowing incident is seen in surveillance footage. A German Shepherd grabs 15-month old Kanchi Dhanani as her brother, Kashish, is seen fighting to save his sister from the dog’s threatening grip.

U.K.’s Mail Online posts the video as seen when the dog, Sheru, starts to go berserk and suddenly grabs the girls and refuses to let go of her. The girl is seen not far from the animal when everything goes from calm to complete chaos. The dog shows a curiosity in the child, then when her brother picks her up, he’s relentless to grab onto her pants and pull them off. The scene goes on for quite some time before others enter the picture and are able to distract the dog from his forceful grip.

According to the report, the brother and sister were playing outside in the private gardens of their flat in Ahmedaband, India last week. The dog is 11-months-old.

Fortunately, the girl didn’t sustain any injuries during the horrifying attack, but her brother suffered just minor cuts and bruises. The dog is now in the custody of a family member.

Kashish says he has no idea why the dog would launch such an unexpected attack on his sister.

“I don’t know why Sheru suddenly attacked Kanchi. We had not even disturbed him. We were playing on our own but suddenly he jumped at Kanchi and started dragging her.

“I pulled her by her arms and tried all my force to save her. I am thankful to God that she is fine. I love her so much and will do anything to protect her.”

Luckily, Kanchi had her brave brother there to intervene as soon as he did.

Children are an easy target for dogs, especially if they provoke them. In this case, however, the toddler didn’t appear to do anything out of the ordinary to ignite such an unexpected attack. The dog might have been playing with the child but didn’t understand boundaries or realize its own strength.

Sheru has been owned by the family for 10 months. The siblings’ mother says she had a feeling their dog was in a playful mood that day, but when he went for a walk earlier in the day with her mom, she forgot to put the leash on him.

On Tuesday, another dog attack happened to a toddler when three dogs in Arkansas injured a 3-year-old so severely, doctors had to put the child in a medically-induced coma, THV 11 reports.
