If Ohio State does win to advance to the national championship game, it will be third-string quarterback Cardale Jones leading the way.
Jones, who is making his second career start in the Sugar Bowl, said he believes he can run the offense as well as Braxton Miller, who was tabbed as the starter for this year but hurt his shoulder in August and missed the entire season.
“There’s no limitation on offense when I’m in as far as ‘We can’t do this, we can’t run this,'” Jones said. “It’s the same as Braxton had with freedom.”
Though Alabama comes into the game as 10-point favorites, the Buckeyes believe they match up man-for-man against the Crimson Tide.
“We have talent and they have talent. It’s an even talent battle,” Ohio State defensive tackle Michael Bennett said this week. “It doesn’t come down to who has faster guys. We have just as many 4.3 guys as they do. It doesn’t come down to who’s got stronger guys. We have just as many 600-pound bench pressers as they do. Whoever comes to play Thursday will win this game.”
