Complete PlayStation Plus Lineup For January 2015 Revealed

Every month Microsoft and Sony release games for subscribers to their respective subscription services: Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus, respectively. The Inquisitr previously reported on the Games with Gold offerings for January but did not have a complete listing of PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection offerings, as Sony does not drop those details until a few days before. IGN is reporting the full list and the remaining 4 games from the list.

PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection January 2015

Sony PlayStation Plus Instant Games Collection Lineup for January 2015

Originally, the only games confirmed by Sony for the Instant Game Collection lineup for January 2015 was for the PlayStation 4. The first offering was for inFAMOUS First Light, a prequel story for inFAMOUS Second Son as a DLC stand alone. The other was The Swapper, a side scrolling puzzle game involving using clones of your character to solve puzzles that require multiple points of interaction. However, no news was available for the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita owners until today.

PlayStation 3 owners will be receiving an ostensibly disappointing Prototype 2 and the excellent remake of Duck Tales Remastered. PS Vita owners will be receiving side action game Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition and Whoa Dave! for their January Instant Game Collection offerings.

Prototype 2 is an action adventure game in an open world setting that released back in 2012. As a sequel to 2009’s Prototype, it was an ambitious step up from the original game by developer Radical Entertainment. Despite outselling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in its first month, poor long term sale led to the eventual reduction in staff by owner Activision, relegating the team to a support role on existing projects.

Prototype 2 featured a new protagonist from the first game, James Heller, who is on a quest for revenge against the first game’s protagonist, Alex Mercer. Heller’s family was killed by the Blacklight virus, which caused the death of Heller’s family and his own transformation into a super powered human, not unlike an oft compared title, inFAMOUS.

Duck Tales Remastered is another excellent offering for the PlayStation 3 as the Capcom developed remake of the beloved NES game featured a new graphical representation and voice acting from the surviving members of the original Disney TV show, including Alan Young (Mr. Ed, Adventures in Odyssey, The Alan Young Show) as the voice of Scrooge McDuck.

PS Vita owners are getting for the January 2015 PlayStation Plus lineup Whoa Dave!, developed by the team behind the BIT.TRIP series, features the hero Dave Lonuts surviving a crazy alien invasion in a retro side scrolling platformer. Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition is the other offering for the portable system. The release includes the original 1996 shooter as well as the enhanced versions with the three expansion packs.
