The year 2014 may go down in history as the year One Direction star Harry Styles became the most important pop star on the planet. Harry is idolized by millions of One Direction fans around the world and he has long been the darling of the gossip columns. His every move is scrutinized by the press and his love-life is played out in a glare of publicity, every move scrutinized by millions through the medium of social media. The pressure on Harry Styles must be immense but he seems to bear it with stoicism, resignation and good humor.
Earlier this month Rolling Stone ran a feature which identified Harry as the “Boy Who Matters” in a pop music world increasingly dominated by female artists and female fans. The article states that

When Harry’s band mates are under pressure, for example when a video of Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson allegedly smoking weed emerged, Harry may get mad behind the scenes, but he realizes the importance of protecting the bands image. When rumors circulate that Zayn is sick of fame and may quit the band it is likely to be Harry providing a shoulder to cry on and reassurance.
The Mirror yesterday focused on Harry Styles the fashion icon saying that “Harry’s rock-star meets dapper gent image has gone down very well with his legion of fans.”
After spending time in New York City before Christmas, during which time he was linked with Victoria’s Secret model Nadine Leopold, Harry is back in the U.K. for the New Year.
“Heart-throb Harry was in town to watch his beloved Manchester United play at Old Trafford on Boxing Day, and he headed out after the game to celebrate that 3-1 victory over Newcastle United with fellow Reds fans,” the Manchester Evening News reported.
“Harry was spied at restaurant Grill on the Alley on Ridgefield with pals including Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw, alongside Lord of the Rings star Liv Tyler, who is pregnant with her football agent boyfriend Dave.”
The furore that surrounds Harry looks set to increase as the band head out on another huge tour in February. Undoubtedly Harry Styles will enjoy every moment with fortitude and good cheer.
