Anne Hathaway Apparently Has A Doppelgänger — Keira Knightley

Despite being a famous actress in her own right, it seems Keira Knightley couldn’t escape probably one of the most embarrassing things of all: getting mistaken for someone else. In an interview with Australia’s Daily Telegraph over the weekend, the Pirates of The Caribbean star talked about an incident where a fan asked for her autograph thinking she was Anne Hathaway.

“At the airport a woman mistook me for Anne Hathaway,” Knightley said in the interview. “Actually I think I have to apologize to Anne Hathaway because the woman (at the airport) thought I was being really rude as Anne Hathaway not giving her a picture as Anne Hathaway, but I was really only saying that I promised I wasn’t Anne Hathaway — which I am not.”

According to Knightley, this is the first time someone mistook her for Hathaway. However, she revealed that she gets mistaken for other actresses all the time.

“Actually it’s the first Anne Hathaway I have had,” she said. “Generally I get a lot of Rachel Weisz and Natalie Portman,” Knightley said.

And fans aren’t the only ones who can see Knightley’s resemblance to Hathaway. It looks like casting directors have seen it as well, with Knightley being offered the role in the film Laggies… a role that was originally given to Hathaway.

“She dropped out very late in the process and they were scrambling a bit to find somebody and I was… well, I didn’t have anything,” Knightley said of the casting choice. “Stylistically, it’s completely different from what I had been doing previously so it was very much ‘jump in and hope for the best.'”

It’s worth noting that Hathaway, Weisz, and Portman all have awards under their belt. It looks like Knightley could be joining their ranks with her critically-lauded performance in The Imitation Game generating award buzz.

Meanwhile, Anne Hathaway recently appeared in the highly successful Christopher Nolan film, Interstellar. She will next be seen in the films The Intern and Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass. The Les Miserables star has kept quiet in recent months, focusing on her work. However, she made news recently when she opened up about how she deals with her haters.

“Just because I don’t wear my sexiness overtly doesn’t mean that I can’t become that girl for a role,” Hathaway told Harper’s Bazaar. “That’s what I do; I become things. ‘Use your imagination, buddy.’ So in terms of not listening to what other people told me about who I was as an actress and then really pursuing it, I think I’ve been daring in that way.”
