Han Solo Replacement Has Been Found, If Only Disney Has The Sense To Sign Him

Looking for a Han Solo replacement has become something of a depressing and addictive Internet pastime. No one can deny that Han is Harrison Ford, end of story.

But what happens when you have a Star Wars spinoff based around a younger version of the character in the works and the original isn’t getting any younger?

You could go with a likable but not-quite-right actor in the hopes that your audience will forgive certain things as long as the story and FX are good, and they appreciated his talents in something else.

You could cast a lookalike with no talent or ability.

You could ditch the whole production in frustration after seeing no one in Hollywood to meet the challenge of replacing Ford.

Or you could go to YouTube and find the one guy that can pull off a dead-on imitation of the acting legend in both looks and mannerisms. And while the name Anthony Ingruber doesn’t come with Ford’s marquee value, he does deliver what fans want to see out of a Han Solo replacement.

Don’t believe me?

Watch this one minute, 16 second video of Ingruber reciting Ford’s part from the 1977 original.

As MovieWeb points out, the fact Ingruber has no noteworthy credits shouldn’t stop Disney from considering him.

“He may need some acting lessons before stepping on set, but that hasn’t ever stopped anyone from being in a Star Wars movie before (we’re looking at you, Jake Lloyd),” writes B. Alan Orange.

(One might also replace Lloyd’s name with that of Hayden Christiansen, but I digress.)

Anthony Ingruber, however, instills more confidence in me than either of the two poorer George Lucas casting choices.

For starters, he tackles not only the voice but also the facial expressions. Get him to a gym. Pair him with an acting coach to make sure he can keep it up while staying active. See what happens.

Also, he demonstrates talent depth through a wide list of impressions of famous actors that you can see here. Nails every one of them.

If Disney wants to do a Han Solo spinoff right, then they are going to need an actor with Ingruber’s rare abilities. Why? Because Ford imitation is important to the cohesiveness of the series. Remember, these Star Wars spinoff films will exist in the same universe with both the classic and new trilogies.

Harrison Ford’s version will be in both, so the right actor needs to be as close to mimicry as possible to not disrupt the feel of the continuity. After all, we have a young Ford and an old Ford. Getting an actor who doesn’t quite land would be, well, awkward.
