Pamela Anderson And Tommy Lee Sex Tape Story Even Freakier Than The Footage

Pamela Anderson may not have been the original blond bombshell, but her sex tape with Tommy Lee did make Pamela one of the first to have their private sex life become a viral sensation. Just about everybody wanted a piece of Anderson and Tommy going on at it when the tape first came to light in 1995. After all, it didn’t get much more sex symbol-y than Pamela at the time. Many people even thought the tape was leaked on purpose to capitalize on the notoriety of Lee and Anderson at the time, with a fat royalty check arriving to their address somewhere.

The real story, told in full detail by Rolling Stone reporter Amanda Chicago Lewis, involved even more intrigue than your basic holiday cooked-up tabloid story conspiracy. In fact, there might even be more violence than sex to the unearthed Pamela and Tommy porno tape saga. The whole ordeal began when Lee refused to pay electrician Rand Gauthier for $20,000 worth of work that the rock star deemed unsatisfactory. That might have been the end of it, but when Rand showed up to collect his tools he says that Tommy met him at the door with a shotgun.

“I was never really that popular with people. But I had never been held at gunpoint. It screwed with my head.”

Gauthier’s encounter with Anderson and Lee left him so angry that he hatched a plan to rob the couple. A large safe, that Rand says he knew was filled with guns and jewelry, would be his preferred method of revenge. Although the story changes slightly depending on who is telling it, the safe did at least for sure disappear from the celebrity couple’s residence. Gauthier cracked open the safe, knowing that he’d at the very least be able to cover what Pamela and Tommy owed him with what was inside. Of course, the now infamous sex tape was inside, but even then Rand knew the tape would be troublesome.

“We put it in and see what it is, and of course, cha-ching. The dollar signs fly before our eyes. But we’re going, this is the kind of thing people will get killed over.”

Before the Anderson and Lee even noticed that the tape was missing, it had already begun to spread around Los Angeles. Rand, who had previously worked in pornography, was able to quickly make the connections to get distribution underway, but visits from the Hell’s Angels and lawsuits gave a tragic end to the story for Gauthier. He ended up working for years to pay back money to mafia he became involved with during the tape distribution. Still, to this day he can’t help but smile when he watches the tape.

“It was cute. [Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee] are in love and a couple and they’re just having fun with each other, and I think that’s great. I’m jealous. I wish I had something like that.”
