Kayla Marie Jones: Mother Drowned 6-Year Old Daughter Azaria In Bathtub

Kayla Marie Jones, a Minnesota mother, drowned her 6-year-old daughter in a bathtub. According to CBS News, Jones was desperate because she thought the girl had been molested by her boyfriend, and she killed her to save her from the world.

Investigators were called to the scene of the crime on December 23. The 911 call that came in suggested that there was a possible drowning, and that the girl was not breathing.

When law enforcement officials arrived at the home located on Maynard Avenue East, they found Kayla Marie Jones outside with her hands in an upward surrender position. As police made their way inside the home, they found a school-aged girl unresponsive and submerged in water in the bathtub of the residence. The victim was taken to the local children’s hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The dead girl is identified as Azaria Jones.

John Choi, Ramsey County Attorney, had this to say about the tragic Christmas holiday death.

“The actions of the defendant are both chilling and heartbreaking,” Ramsey County Attorney John Choi said in a statement after the charges were announced. “As a parent, my thoughts are with the deceased six-year-old, her family and the many others whose lives will be forever affected by this tragedy. We will pursue the appropriate level of justice in this case.”

Kayla Marie Jones’ boyfriend says the incident took place after they argued, and he left the scene. He said that after he walked to the local bus stop, Jones followed him and told him that he needed to call 911. When the man rushed back to the scene, to his horror, he found the girl in the water in the tub. The boyfriend was screaming and crying when police found him at the scene, stating that he couldn’t believe that Jones could do that to her own daughter. Kayla Marie Jones showed no emotion, authorities say.

Family members of the precious girl are using social media as a means to support one another and cope with her untimely death.

“I am so sad, this I just can’t believe. God help us!”

“My beautiful baby cousins…my heart is so heavy.”

Police believe that Kayla Marie Jones would have rather seen her daughter dead than to know that she was being molested by her lover, according to the Daily Mail. In April, the Inquisitr reported on the case of another mother who drowned her small boy in the bathtub after a voice told her to do it.
