Update: The Interview full-length movie is now available from YouTube Movies, Google Play and Xbox Video. Here are the links to the full movie, now online in time for Christmas Eve.
YouTube has agreed to stream The Interview movie online, reports CNN. It makes sense that YouTube, the biggest video website in the world, would help moviegoers see The Interview without having to leave the comfort of their couches. What a perfect way to begin the holidays by spending Christmas Eve watching The Interview on YouTube.
With the announcement that YouTube has agreed to stream The Interview online also comes the news that the deal between YouTube and Sony could still fall apart at the last minute, according to sources close to the negotiations. Final details must be ironed out before The Interview movie will appear on the popular site.
Either way, showing The Interview on YouTube makes perfect sense. YouTube announced quite some time ago that they would begin offering movies at their YouTube.com/movies link, which YouTube makes more difficult than necessary to find.
As of this writing, The Interview doesn’t appear on YouTube’s new releases page in their official full-length movies section. However, users can subscribe to that channel and click the circular wheel to have YouTube “Send me updates” when The Interview is actually available. Updates will be sent to the email address associated with the YouTube account you used to log in.
Typing “The Interview” site: www.youtube.com/movies into Google doesn’t yet produce the link to the full length The Interview movie, but keep checking that link to learn when The Interview will be uploaded to YouTube on Christmas Day.
In addition to seeing The Interview on YouTube, viewers might be able to catch it on iTunes eventually. However, there are reports that those negotiations broke down, so check YouTube first.
In terms of how much users might have to pay to watch The Interview online, current full-length movies listed on YouTube like Gone Girl are priced at $12.99, while The BoxTrolls is listed with a $14.99 price, the same amount YouTube has listed for The Equalizer. Although movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and The Maze Runner are currently listed under YouTube’s top selling movies, expect The Interview to take that top spot on Christmas Day.
As reported by the Inquisitr, Sony agreed to release The Interview in a select group of movie theaters on Christmas Day, and had yet to announce which video-on-demand provider would show The Interview on Christmas Day, prior to selecting YouTube to debut Seth Rogen’s latest offering online.
