The Gorgas Are Broke? Source Claims ‘RHONJ’ Stars Melissa & Joe Owe $2 Million

The Gorgas are reportedly broke. According to a new report, the Real Housewives of New Jersey couple owes $2 million.

Joe and Melissa “owe everybody money,” OK! Magazine reported on December 22. “They owe framers, painters, plumbers, electricians … he doesn’t pay anybody.”

As the Inquisitr reported earlier this week, Melissa Gorga recently revealed she and Joe had moved back into their former home in Montville, N.J.

Melissa and Joe are “now selling the Franklin Lakes lot where they had already started construction, and have moved back into their dilapidated Montville mansion,” Radar Online reported. “The couple entered the Montville mansion into a lease to purchase agreement with New Jersey businessman Kai Patterson in 2013, and started construction on a new house of their own. But the tenant later claimed to have discovered thousands of dollars in repairs were needed when he employed his own home inspection.”

“While they were renting a smaller house, Joe attempted to evict Patterson based on non-payment of rent, which the judge denied. And now that Patterson has packed up and moved out, they’ve been forced to pay the mansion bills themselves.”

Because they were left having to pay the bills, Melissa and Joe decided to go home for the holidays.

In October, the Gorgas lost a battle to sue and evict their tenant over unpaid bills.

“It’s done. I moved out,” Kai Patterson told Radar Online. “It’s a relief.”

According to Patterson, the Gorgas’ 13,000 square-foot mansion was a nightmare, and he was left to deal with water leaks, backyard garbage, broken pipes and beavers in the walls.

When Patterson entered into his lease with the Real Housewives of New Jersey couple, he paid $10,000 a month in rent and an additional $10,000 per month toward the purchase of the home. He also gave the pair a $25,000 deposit, which was for the price of the home as well as any needed repairs, none of which were completed.

“The purchase agreement was terminated and we worked it out,” he said. “He [Joe] defaulted on conditions related to the lease and purchase agreement. He wasn’t ever going to write me a check so the only way I could recoup my deposit was to get it back in rent. I didn’t want to purchase [the Gorgas’ house] anymore. I don’t need to bash him [Joe]. It’s a closed chapter of my life.”

The Gorgas are expected to return to The Real Housewives of New Jersey for Season 7. However, at this point, it is unclear when the show will resume production.
