Missing Child Alert: Where Is Geneya Pearson?

Police are searching for a missing child in Homestead, Florida. Geneya Pearson’s mother says that the five-year-old girl hasn’t been seen since around 9:30 a.m., Tuesday. The child was last seen at an apartment on 14th Avenue, but reports aren’t clarifying whether the apartment was the home or an apartment of an acquaintance, neighbor, or someone else. The details in this case are still developing as law enforcement officials scramble to look for the little girl.

Geneya reportedly goes by the name “Nia” and was last seen wearing dark colored denim jeans with a green and purple shirt that reads “Coogi” across the front of it. When she was last seen, her hair was done up with two braids in the front of her head and a ponytail in the back.

Unfortunately, CBS Miami reports that there are conflicting details coming from the loved ones of the missing child. Varying stories of where she was last seen and with whom are being reported, and it’s simply not known which story is the true story — if any of them are. For example, one story indicates that Nia was seen walking away with an adult male, but the family says there are no adult males in the area that they are familiar with and with which she’d be comfortable enough to leave. This story is indicative of a possible kidnapping.

FDLE and Miami-Dade Police Department are both involved in the search for Geneya Pearson, and are scouring the area surrounding her home in hopes of locating some kind of evidence. NBC Miami News reports that the missing girl was reported to police just before 1:00 p.m., indicating that she had been missing for approximately three and a half hours before she was reported as such to police. This could mean that her loved ones simply did not know she was missing at the time, which is a tragedy that occurs all too often.

Geneya isn’t the only missing child being sought this week. WWNT Radio News reports that three children are currently being sought by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. Arrianna Marie Howell, Keondre Lamar Howell, and Deshawn William Howell — all under the ages of 14 — are missing with their father, who is reportedly under the influence of methamphetamine. They may be traveling in the area of Fort Walton Beach, on foot, but police have been unable to find the children or their father, as reports claim that he may be hallucinating. These children may be in danger, so if you see them please do not hesitate to dial 911 immediately.
