Scarlett Johansson: On A Momentous Year, Christmas Traditions, And Her ‘Okay’ Figure [Video]

Scarlett Johansson has multiple reasons to celebrate and spread some cheer this holiday season. How could she not, after the incredibly successful year she has on record for 2014?

It is a well-known fact that Johansson has been pretty steadily working in the entertainment industry for the last 13 years. However, this year in particular, the talented star of such movies as The Girl with the Pearl Earring and Lost in Translation has her name attached to five, yes five, major motion pictures, all stemming from a variety of genres that only allow movie-lovers everywhere to admire Scarlett Johansson for her versatility in the world of film.

The Independent highlights Scarlett’s involvement in the film industry over 2014.

“[Johansson] has had major roles in five films, including mega-budget superhero blockbuster, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ and one mind-bending art-house sci-fi chiller, Jonathan Glazer’s ‘Under the Skin.’ It was this last that established her as an exceptional actress, and not just a smoky voice and an hourglass figure… But another of Johansson’s films, ‘Lucy,’ was even more significant.”

The Independent, quite rightly so, includes Scarlett Johansson on their “Cultural People of The Year” list, along with Taylor Swift and Rembrandt. She is commended for continuing to blaze the trail for female actors by taking on lead roles in which she isn’t “merely the love interest, and… concerned, primarily, with finding the right husband and/or the right shoe.”

When Lucy — an action film that is fronted by a female character — was released in July, there were worries about the film going up against competitors such as Hercules. “Luc Besson’s psychedelic thriller” held its own and went on to make over $500 million internationally, all with Scarlett maintaining the spotlight.

And after so much cinematic success, the newly-wed star — who recently also became a mommy — is set to join in on some family time and celebrations. Johansson recently shared what her favorite part of Christmas is with People.

“Getting to see my family all in one place. I travel so frequently for work, it’s one of the only times we all get together.”

Later in the interview, starlet Scarlett stated that her favorite traditions this time of year include watching old movies, reading, and baking, adding that her “favorite holiday movie is ‘Home Alone 2.'” Mine too!

Yet wouldn’t you know this red-lipped, trail-blazing, uber-talented beauty still has her own set of insecurities, and was not coy about voicing these to Barbara Walters recently. Yes, Scarlett Johansson, the woman of Hollywood known for her perfectly voluptuous physique the world over, actually is only “okay” with her figure.

Watch a portion of the interview between Scarlett and Barbara Walters to hear Johansson’s own views about her bod.

As Barbara put it, body and all, Scarlett Johansson has a lot to be happy about this holiday season. There is most certainly a reason that Walters included Scarlett on her “Most Fascinating Person” list for 2014.
