J.K. Rowling Says There Were Both Gay And Jewish Wizards At Hogwarts, But One Group Wasn’t There
J.K. Rowling is someone that has given people so much with Harry Potter and the entire wizarding world that she created for him and his friends. Some have wondered though if there were all types of wizards at Hogwarts, and now Rowling has come forth and admitted that there were indeed both Jewish and gay wizards learning potions and spells.
As E Online reported, a fan of wizards hopped on Twitter and decided to ask the author why there were no Jewish wizards in the magical school.
@jk_rowling my wife said there are no Jews at Hogwarts. I’m a Jew so I assume she said it to be the only magical 1 in the family. Thoughts?

Rowling has never been one to not speak with her fans in person or through social media, so she didn’t let this tweet go unanswered. The only strange thing is that she’s often very short-worded for someone that has authored numerous books.
.@benjaminroffman Anthony Goldstein, Ravenclaw, Jewish wizard. — J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) December 16, 2014
For those not aware, Anthony Goldstein was the blond half-wizard, half-Muggle that was sorted into Ravenclaw during his first year at Hogwarts. He does appear in Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
J.K. Rowling has let everyone know that that virtually all religions, belief, and non-belief systems are represented at Hogwarts. The only people that Rowling says she never imagined at the school for wizards were Wiccans.
As BuzzFeed showed though, she wasn’t done answering questions regarding how die the world of wizards was at Hogwarts. One Twitter threw a question at Rowling to ask if there were wizards with different sexual preferences at Hogwarts.
@jk_rowling it’s safe to assume that Hogwarts had a variety of people and I like to think it’s a safe place for LGBT students

Once again, the author had very few words to say in her response, but it was still perfect. Actually, the image she tweeted in response is what was quite brilliant.

Quite genius, actually.
The poster that J.K. Rowling actually tweeted out is one that was created by a group in Halifax, Nova Scotia, known as The Youth Project. They had created it for their Harry Potter Hal-Con and were thrilled that it was tweeted out by the woman that made the adolescent wizarding world so famous.
So, for those wondering about how diverse Hogwarts actually was, J.K. Rowling went ahead and let it all out there for the world to see. Harry Potter certainly had much more depth than anyone could even begin to imagine, and now it is known that there was both a Jewish wizard and a gay wizard or two at Hogwarts.
Kind of makes you wonder who could show up in future stories, no?
