Chris Stigall Cancer: Radio Host Issues Apology After Mocking Cancer Patient

Chris Stigall mocked a cancer patient who was on The Ellen Show this week, and he has now issued an apology.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, cancer patient and Phillies fan Julie Kramer went on Ellen as part of a segment that features inspiring women. Kramer has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Synovial Sarcoma, and was chosen to talk about her journey on the show. Ellen DeGeneres surprised her with a check for $10,000 and a basket filled with Phillies swag, which was given to her by the team’s second baseman Chase Utley — which was certainly a great surprise for Kramer, and many feel as though she deserved every minute of it.

Well, Philadelphia talk radio host Chris Stigall mentioned the episode during his radio program, and the things he had to say weren’t very nice, according to Philly.com.

“You know Chase Utley’s not going to be around to take the cancer patient to the games. It’s a nice invite, but he won’t even be there,” Stigall first said. He then decided to take a shot at Julie Kramer.

Chris Stigall said that the cancer patient wouldn’t even be around for 2015 season, and questioned whether or not she would even be able to attend a game when baseball comes back in the spring.

“Plus, it’s probably terminal what that woman has. You think she’s going to live through an entire season?” Stigall said. After the news about what he said spread around the internet like wildfire, Stigall issued an apology.

“I know my heart and intent was something very different than my words, but that doesn’t matter. It is my prayer that Mrs. Kramer was successful in her battle. And my thoughtless attempt at a joke about our show conveyed a sentiment that came off as much different. And for that, I am sincerely sorry.”

Many believe that Stigall should face consequences from WPHT, but, so far, the station has not reprimanded him for his comments. According to the New York Daily News, Marc Rayfield, the market manager for CBS Philly, said that the team “appreciates” the steps that Stigall has taken, and that they have spoken to him about the comments that he made.

“We have discussed the situation extensively with Chris and he has taken full responsibility for his comments. We appreciate the steps he has taken to rectify the situation.”

Do you think Chris Stigall should be fired after his insensitive comments about cancer?
