‘Star Wars’ Christmas Display: 100,000 Lights Synchronized To Classic Music [Video]

If you are a Star Wars nerd, you must check out this spectacular 100,000 Christmas lights display at a home in California, which is brilliantly synchronized to go off with the classic music millions know and love.

The home in Newark, California, is decorated with lights all over the house and multiple displays in the front yard. Included in the decorations we see a keyboard, a guitar, and drums. Candy canes and Christmas tree complete the creative array.

YouTube user Tom BetGeorge posted the Star Wars video a couple of days ago, and it has garnered almost 150,000 likes. The 100,000 lights Christmas display has also gotten the attention of some national news channels, including ABC’s Good Morning America.

The creator explains that this is his tribute to his favorite Star Wars songs, taken from different episodes of the multi-billion dollar franchise. Tom — who makes a living as a music teacher at COVA Conservatory in Oakland and Centerville Presbyterian Church, in Fremont — writes about how he built the impressive Christmas display.

“I sequenced the show using LOR, mixed the music/sound effects with Digital Performer, and filmed it using a 35? lift at 3am ? This is now my second year decorating. I built all the props using wood, metal, acrylic and corrugated plastic.”

“The guitar is 17?, the piano is 19? and the drums are standard. About 12,500 channels running around 100,000 lights.”

Showing just how passionate he is about what he has created here, Tom BetGeorge adds, “If you look closely (especially during the Cantina song) the instruments are playing the real notes! The beams can be seen for miles but I went out of my way to avoid shining the beams on houses and flight paths.”

If you are wondering what neighbors think of the Star Wars Christmas display, Tom assures viewers that it’s all good, and they’re very supportive. You see, the man uses his masterpiece to raise money for the poor and homeless through his church.

A list of themes used for the display is also shared on YouTube in order of appearance.
