Brad Pitt, Three Kids Fill In: Angelina Jolie’s Chickenpox Causes Family To Fill In At ‘Unbroken’ Premiere In LA

Brad Pitt and three of his kids had to fill in for Angelina Jolie at the Unbroken premiere in Los Angeles because the actress has the chickenpox. According to the New York Daily News, Pitt was joined by Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, and Shiloh, 8, who all wore suits to the red carpet event. Pitt’s parents also attended the event, showing a unified front and major support for Jolie, who made a video announcement about her illness last week.

“I just want to be clear and honest about why I will be missing the ‘Unbroken’ events in the next few days. I found out last night that I have chicken pox. I will be home, itching and missing everyone. I can’t believe it cause this film means so much to me … I just can’t believe it, but such is life. There it is.”

Brad Pitt and his three kids did a fine job filling in for Angelina Jolie. According to Yahoo!, the children may have been allowed to watch the film because Jolie has expressed her children’s great handle on what’s real and what’s not. Shiloh, however, may be a bit too young to see Unbroken, but there hasn’t been any confirmation about which members of the clan stayed to watch the premiere and which ones ended up going home before the movie started.

“It’s PG-13. My boys — one is 13, one is 11 but he’s a mature 11 — will see it, but I think I might actually show my younger children. I think they could handle it because they understand film. They know the difference of what is real and what isn’t, because it’s heavy for [kids] under 13. But they all knew Louis [Zamperini]. They want to see it because it’s Louis,” Jolie recently said.

Brad Pitt needing to fill in with three of his kids wasn’t a huge deal, although many would have liked to see Angelina Jolie walk that red carpet. The film is highly anticipated, and has been the center of some serious drama over the past couple of weeks, but it is something that Jolie is extremely proud of nonetheless. It’s clear that she also has the support of her husband, which is very important.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the most recent bout of controversy surrounding Unbroken came from Japanese nationalists who actually called the actress “racist.” Evidently they didn’t appreciate her portrayal of Imperial officer Mutsuhiro Watanabe, and said that the depiction of his character didn’t have any supporting facts behind it.
