‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Adam Mayfield Not Cast As EJ DiMera Replacement

Days of Our Lives fans were buzzing last week when it was confirmed that former All My Children actor Adam Mayfield was moving to Salem.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, since Days of Our Lives execs wanted to keep Adam Mayfield’s role under wraps, rumors immediately began that Adam could have been cast in the role of EJ DiMera.

However, since the rumors began to take on a life of their own, a rep for Days was practically forced to reveal some details on Mayfield’s casting.

The rep reportedly confirmed that Adam Mayfield had not been cast as a replacement for James Scott’s EJ DiMera, but that he will be a person from Serena’s past.

As Days of Our Lives fans know Serena Mason recently came to Salem to find her one time love Eric Brady, and she’s also now close friends with Melanie Jonas, who also only recently came back to her hometown.

Adam could be playing Serena’s ex-boyfriend, brother, or possibly husband, which would definitely throw a wrench in her romance with Eric Brady, who has already been through so much turmoil in his love life thanks to Nicole Walker.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Adam Mayfield will join another former All My Children alum, Daniel Cosgrove, who currently plays the mysterious Aiden Jennings on the NBC soap. Both Mayfield and Cosgrove portrayed the character of Scott Chandler for a stint on the AMC.

Rumors have been flying about the possibility of EJ DiMera’s return, as after his death, viewers watched his sister Kristen inject a mystery substance into his body before it was secretly shipped to his father Stefano DiMera.

Nothing else about EJ’s body was ever mentioned. However, if James Scott or Alison Sweeney ever decide to come back to Salem as EJ and Sami, the door will be open for an EJ DiMera return from the dead.

However, even without EJ and Sami, Days of Our Lives has been filling out the cast nicely with some old favorite as well as new additions. With the return of Melanie Jonas, the relationship between Hope Brady and Aiden Jennings, and the younger characters of JJ, Paige, Abigail, and Ben, not to mention plenty of Sonny and Will, the fans are getting all the drama they can handle from Salem’s residents.
