Camila Alves’ Handbag Prices Deemed “Ridiculous”

Camila Alves has been accusing by Kitson of not promoting her handbag line Muxo at the shop. If this sounds familiar, you’re right: Victoria Beckham and Lauren Conrad were also said to not be promoting their lines fully (which resulted in Kitson dropping DVB Denim and the Lauren Conrad Collection) in 2008.

“When Camila launched Muxo in August last year she told us she was ready for hard work and was going to do all she could to promote the line,” a Kitson rep told Pop Tarts, adding “But she hasn’t even been into the store once since and we can’t even get in contact with her.”

Kitson says that they purchased $50,000 worth of handcrafted bags and still have half in stock. They are currently marked down 50%, reports FOX, and even a free “Surfer, Dude” DVD can’t influence buyers. . . gee, I wonder why.

“The price point is ridiculous; she can’t compete with Gucci and Louis Vuitton if she’s not going to even promote it. Camila also promised to build a Muxo diaper bag but never delivered,” the Kitson rep continued.

Even after fellow Brazilian Bettina Duncan defended the Muxo line and claimed that it was selling well in her Fred Segal “Fashion Laboratory,” Kitson shot back “Why buy at Bettina when you can buy the same bag at Kitson for 60 percent off? How many bags have they really sold, in this economy no one wants to be seen showing off a luxury handbag. An inside source was at the recent Muxo trunk show at Fred Segal and no one bought a bag.”

It’s fashion WAR!
