Amazon Bomb Threat: Employees At Amazon Headquarters Evacuated After Note Found In Bathroom

An Amazon bomb threat caused police to force an evacuation of the building located at 400 Block Terry Ave North in Seattle. According to Yahoo! Finance, a few police officers arrived at the building to do a sweep around 10:30 am local time. According to Business Insider, an Amazon employee found a threatening note in one of the building’s bathrooms and phoned police.

Seattle Police released the following statement about the situation.

“Seattle police are investigating after staff at Amazon.com’s South Lake Union headquarters found a threatening note on the company’s campus early this morning. Building security contacted Seattle police around 10:30 AM after staff found a note inside a bathroom in the Amazon complex, in the 400 block of Terry Avenue N. Out of an abundance of caution, the Seattle Police Department Arson/Bomb Squad and explosive detection dog teams have deployed to the complex to assist in the investigation. Employees have evacuated from the complex as police and Amazon.com security search the area.”

The Amazon bomb threat caused police to send in bomb squad teams along with explosive detection dog teams. So far, there has not been any evidence that there was a bomb or that any Amazon employees were in danger. It is unknown if the building will be open tomorrow, or if police have deemed the area safe.

Bomb threats pop up in various places from time to time, but in most cases, police don’t find anything. Just last month there was a bomb threat at JFK Airport in New York, but that turned out to be nothing. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, authorities rushed in to check a plane that had just landed.

“The bomb threat was against an individual airplane that landed at JFK earlier in the day. American Airlines Flight 67, which started in Barcelona, Spain, and landed at JFK around 12:07 pm local time, was the only specified target. The bomb threat was received by telephone, sending local police scrambling to meet the plane when it landed. They then isolated it away from the main airport terminal and removed passengers,” reported the Inquisitr.

Amazon has not commented on the bomb threat. Everyone at the building is safe, and all presumably went home for the day. More details are expected to be released in the coming hours.
