HBO wants you to know that the cold winds are rising – oh, and that April is coming.
The network released the first teaser trailer for season 2 of Game of Thrones, which is expected to air around April of next year. Judging by what Stannis Baratheon, brother of the late Robert Baratheon, says in the video, it sounds like next season won’t be any less bloody.
“My brother left no true-born heirs by right of birth and blood,” Stannis (Stephene Dillane) proclaims in the video in an appropriately cold, unforgiving tone. “I do this day lay claim to the island throne of Westeros that all true men declare their loyalty. The iron throne is mine by right; they will bend the knee or I will destroy them.”
We also get a glimpse at some of the characters that will be making a return in season 2, some of which are far less liked than others. We get to see a brief shot of Arya sporting her new look, Tyrion deep in thought, and more still.
