New Video Game Releases For The Week Of December 14, 2014

The consoles are taking a breather with the new video game releases for the week of December 14, 2014. The Windows PC gaming scene is getting a large majority of the releases this week as many Kickstarter backed games are getting their official releases this week. Bigger franchises such as TERA and Tropico 5 are seeing expansion packs release this week as well.

The PC MMO TERA, with its hyper sexualized ladies, is receiving another content update with Fate of Arun. The biggest aspect of the change is the level cap is being raised to 65 with all nine classes receiving updates to the skill trees. In addition to the character changes, a whole new continent is unlocked to play in. Northern Arun is made of five zones ranging from level content 60 to 65 with the ultimate goal of confronting the vile shadow lord Dakuryon. Four new dungeons are also found on the new continent along with a new arena mode in the Coliseum which combines elements of PvE with PvP.

Another expansion amongst the new video game releases include theHunter: Primal. An official stand alone expansion based on the successful 2009 PC game theHunter is a free-to-play PC game developed by Expansive Worlds for Avalanche Studios (Just Cause Series, Renegade Ops, Mad Max) with a simple premise: to be the most realistic hunting simulation. The game has been growing steadily since its release in 2009, and demand for a more fantastical hunt of dinosaurs has always been discussed both by fans and internally at the studio. This week, a one-off stand-alone purchase will allow gamers to play a more fast paced version of the game with theHunter: Primal. The idea began as an educational initiative with interns building the systems and world, and as the game grew, so did the interest internally. Avalanche dedicated some of its team to help bring the project to a full public release which will be launching this week, and dinosaurs may not be the only threat the game has to offer.

Other notable releases include two different releases from the Metal Gear Solid universe. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which brought the Solid Snake storyline to a close, will be getting a digital release almost seven years after its launch. Metal Gear SolidV: Ground Zeroes will be receiving its PC debut as the smaller entry in the series which serves as a paid prologue to the forthcoming game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which continues the storyline first introduced in the PSP’s Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
