A new bracelet designed by a company called Circret, is hoping to take the place of your smartphone and tablet. Like something you would see on a sci-fi movie, the Circret bracelet is capable of turning your arm into a touchscreen.
The futuristic bracelet utilizes a small projector and eight long-range proximity sensors bring the screen to life. In the video, you see that the Circret is activated by a simple flick-of-the-wrist and can be worn so that the screen projects on the outer or inner arm. Circret claims that you can literally do anything you would normally do on a tablet or phone from the bracelet. This includes answering phone calls, responding to emails, looking at the weather, or even playing games.
The Daily Mail researched the Circret bracelet and found that it “will also contain a USB port and accelerometer as well as supporting Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.” The bracelet can sync to your existing iPhone, but can also designed so that it can be used as a standalone device. Though the Circret bracelet is still in prototype phas, the company told the Daily Mail that they expect the bracelet to cost around £300 at first launch, which could take place as soon as June 2015.
Guillaume Pommier, who founded technology company Cicret with Pascal, his software developer father, told the Daily Mail that they plan to put a 3G card inside of the bracelet so that it can make and receive calls. He also says that the bracelet will use a new type of SIM technology that does not require the use of a regular SIM card. Instead, they plan to use new technology that allows the SIM details to be stored directly into the device hardware.
Pommier says that the device will come in 16GB and 32GB models, and will come in 10 different color choices. Pommier hopes that his new device will change the way that we access information as a whole.
“The Cicret bracelet is a revolutionary device which could completely change how we access information.”
