Japanese Artist Who Created ‘Vagina Kayak’ Is At It Again! Arrested For Obscenity A Second Time!

Japan. The Land of the Rising Sun is famous for its entertainment, technological advances, and history. However, they are also known for being a bit odd at times too. Earlier this year, The Inquisitr previously reported on a Japanese artist who fit the criteria of oddness when she made a kayak. What was unique about said kayak is the fact it was modeled after her vagina. Because of Japan’s views towards genitalia, the artist was arrested and jailed.

Now, the Japanese artist who created the “vagina kayak” is at it again! This time, she is being arrested for violation of laws concerning obscenity through distribution.

According to articles by The Guardian and Salon, they report that Megumi Igarashi – who goes by the artistic moniker of Rokude Nashiko, which loosely translates to “Reprobate Child” – was arrested for the second time on suspicion of sending links that shows her plan to create a boat using three-dimensional obscene data to a large number of people. This is actually the second time Megumi has tried to have other people, willing to finance her plan, download her 3D data as she attempted to do the same thing last year in October. She even allegedly sold compact discs containing similar data during a May exhibition in Tokyo.

It should be noted that after Megumi Igarashi’s release earlier this year, she showed no signs to conforming to Japan’s obscenity laws as proven through the following statement she gave.

“I don’t believe my vagina is anything obscene. I was determined I would never yield to police power.”

Presently, Japan has very intricate obscenity laws and still forbids the depiction of actual genitalia. That is why in Japan’s pornography industry, which is notorious vibrant and caters to so many fetishes even the U.S. pornography industry hasn’t officially touched, still censors images or depictions of said genitalia, usually with pixelation. If anyone is caught distributing or holding obscene materials for the purpose of selling, they could receive up to two years in jail and/or a fine as much as ¥2.5 million ($21,000 USD).

In that sense, Minori Watanabe was also arrested by teaming up with Megumi Igarashi from around October of last year to July of this year. The reason is because Minori displayed obscene materials created by Megumi in the front window of her pornography shop.

As of now, there are no reports if Megumi has been convicted for her second arrest. Still, what do you think about the situation? Do you think Megumi should have to abide to Japan’s laws in accordance to their culture? Or are Japan’s laws outdated pertaining to genitalia, and do those laws need to be updated?
