‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Character Names Revealed, Who’s Playing Who [Photos]

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer was finally released and now we know what the new characters will be called.

The trailer hit the Friday after Thanksgiving, taking the world by storm — and we got a first glimpse at what the newcomers to the franchise will look like, but we didn’t have any of the character names until almost two weeks later. On Thursday, a collection of stills, in the form of trading cards containing some of the names, were released by Entertainment Weekly.

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer revealed few plot details, but it gave anxious fans a first look at several new characters. Included were John Boyega, who scared everyone out of their chairs when he popped up his head dressed as a stormtrooper.

We also saw Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac in pursuit of someone or being pursued by someone, it was hard to tell in the few short seconds Abrams shared with us. So let’s get started and find what the new characters in Star Wars: The Force Awakens are called. Get used to them!

BB-8

This is the new droid, which looks like half of R2 D2 sitting on a soccer ball and is seen racing across the desert in a hurry.

FINN

John Boyega, who scared the crap out of everyone when he popped up on the screen dressed in a stormtrooper uniform, is Finn — and he is on the run. We don’t believe he is actually one of the guards, but is only using the disguise. Take this with a grain of salt.

REY

This is Daisy Ridley’s character who is called Rey and she is running from something as she looks over her shoulder, but we don’t know what or who is chasing her.

POE DAMERON

Oscar Isaac will play this X-Wing fighter and is seen in the middle of some sort of battle on a planet that looks very much like Earth.

KYLO REN

The mysterious character whose face we can’t see and appears all dressed in black is Kylo Ren. Much has been discussed about the new lightsaber he holds in his hand.

As fans start to get used to the new character names in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which J.J. Abrams and LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy shared exclusively with EW by releasing eight stills, they also let fans know that some things haven’t changed as some familiar characters and vehicles are keeping the same names as in the original trilogy.
