Dev Patel and Freida Pinto have ended their relationship after six years together.

According to Us Weekly, via the Daily Mail, the duo, who originally met on the set of the Oscar-winning triumph Slumdog Millionaire, have been apart for a lengthy period of time now.

The insider told the website, “Dev and Freida have broken up. They have [been] done for a while.” They then went on to add that they 30-year-old has reacted well to the break-up. In fact, she has already been spotted on numerous dates since the pair parted.

“Freida is single and happy. Friends are setting her up.”

There were rumors that the pair’s relationship had become strained after she celebrated her 30th birthday in Los Angeles, and the British actor wasn’t anywhere to be seen during the soiree.

24-year-old Dev Patel and Freida Pinto originally met on the set of Danny Boyle’s enchanting romantic-drama. The pair shared a warm and intimate chemistry in the hugely popular film, and their camaraderie was one of the main reasons for its international success.

At the 2009 Academy Awards, Slumdog Millionaire found itself nominated for ten accolades. At the ceremony, it was awarded eight of these gongs, which included recognition for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Following their successful collaboration on this film, the pair then announced their relationship to the world too. However, this didn’t scupper their careers in any fashion and the pair have since gone on to achieve great things since the release of Slumdog Millionaire, too.

Freida Pinto followed up her appearance as the coveted Latika, by then starring in the likes of Woody Allen’s You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, as well as Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Immortals. She also topped a variety of best-dressed and most-attractive lists too. Back in 2009, the Daily Telegraph alleged that she was the highest-paid Indian actress, even though she hadn’t starred in a Bollywood film.

Meanwhile, after winning a Critics’ Choice Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his portayal of Jamal Malik in Slumdog Millionaire, Dev Patel followed up this success by appearing in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, The Newsroom, and The Last Airbender. He is also set to feature in Neill Blomkamp’s hugely anticipated sci-fi action comedy, Chappie, in 2015 too.

Representatives for both Freida Pinto and Dev Patel are yet to comment on their rumored split.
