Just after confirming that her Dancing With the Stars days were behind her, Cheryl Burke’s gig coming up with NBC has been revealed. What will the former DWTS pro be doing with the competing network? It seems that a variety show is coming to NBC in 2015 and Burke will have a key role on the show.
People shares that NBC isn’t ready to reveal the title of the new variety show yet, nor are they detailing the names of the other stars involved. However, news of Cheryl Burke’s gig does tease just enough to keep her DWTS fans tantalized and anxious for more.
Burke says that she had never thought she’d be able to walk away from Dancing With the Stars, but she was feeling a need to change course and find something that would challenge and inspire her. She adds that DWTS will always be a part of her life, but it became clear to her that her only role there would be as a dancer.
Cheryl says that she realized the show wasn’t “interested in using me for other things and letting me grow,” and she feels the need to “feed my brain with other knowledge” besides solely teaching others to dance. The former Dancing With the Stars pro says that her contract with the show had been very restrictive and she’s been anxious to try other things for quite a few years now.
Despite being ready to move on, Cheryl is wistful about saying goodbye. She says it’ll be hard to watch the DWTS contestants in the next season, but she’ll be cheering them on and she hopes they do the same for her. She’s cultivated some great friendships and it’s clear that Burke has some valuable memories from her Dancing With the Stars experience.
As inTouch notes, Cheryl just appeared in an episode of My Crazy Love on Oxygen, but most fans are anxious for details on Cheryl Burke’s gig with NBC. According to Us Weekly, the new NBC show is in the early stages of development. It seems it will be revolving around some type of competition element and Burke will be performing.
From the sounds of things, there are big changes ahead in the next couple of seasons for Dancing With the Stars, as there are shifts coming for both the pro slate and behind the judges table. Derek Hough is keeping an open mind about returning for season 20, but others may be departing in the coming year. DWTS fans will be excited to see what comes next for everybody, though. For now, everybody will have to hold tight and wait for more details to come regarding Cheryl Burke’s gig with the new NBC show, though people are definitely intrigued.
