Bill Cosby is set to appear in Wednesday’s South Park season Finale. “The Washington Redskins’ Go F-ck Yourself Holiday Special” is sure to spark controversy. In addition to Cosby, the special will feature Iggy Azalea, Tony Bennett, Kurt Cobain, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, and the Washington Redskins.
In the preview, Bill Cosby and Taylor Swift are seen sitting together on a couch. The actor and comedian is wearing a colorful holiday sweater and holding a glass of wine. Although the preview did not reveal the context of the scene, the special will likely address Cosby’s ongoing sexual assault scandal.
Beginning in November, at least two dozen women have come forward to accuse Cosby of sexual assault. A majority of the women claim they were given drinks, which were laced with drugs. Although he has vehemently denied the accusations, Bill Cosby resigned from the Temple University board of trustees and cancelled several shows.
The statute of limitations will likely prevent prosecution. However, Cosby is facing strong criticism — which threatens to end his career. In a recent special, five of his accusers detailed their abuse and how it continues to affect their lives.
As discussed by Hollywood Reporter, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis, P.J. Masten, Victoria Valentino and Kristina Ruehli, all claim they were manipulated and drugged by Bill Cosby. In addition to emotional distress, the women expressed anger that the iconic actor remains under a “bubble of protection.”
Masten said she simply wants “him to suffer” for what he has done. She added that she and the other women “have all suffered” as a result of the abuse. Masten believes Cosby should lose his Emmy Awards and his honorary doctorate from Temple University.
Although Bill Cosby’s appearance in the South Park finale will certainly be controversial, he will not be alone. The special will likely include “just about every single thing that is on the cultural radar for 2014.”
The preview includes clips of Miley Cyrus riding a wrecking ball, Angelina Jolie holding a plate of cookies, and “holograms” of Kurt Cobain, Elvis Presley, and Michael Jackson (as Peter Pan.) The special will also address the controversy surrounding The Washington Redskins and their current logo.
As reported by MTV News, South Park is “well-known for addressing the most controversial topics with over-the-top humor that borders on absurd.” However, Bill Cosby’s appearance in the holiday special is likely to add fuel to the fire.
