‘Teen Mom 2’ Star Leah Messer’s Family Blames MTV For Drug Allegations
Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer was the target of online drug rumors months ago, and now it is being reported that her family feels MTV is to blame.
After scenes from Teen Mom 2 showed a “druggy” Messer, the reality star’s alleged drug dealer spoke to In Touch Weekly, claiming Messer purchased 30 to 40 pills at a time.
“I used to give Leah the pills myself; she’s picked up 30 to 40 pills at a time from me,” the alleged drug dealer told the magazine, noting painkillers Vicodin, Lortab, Percocet, and oxycodone as Messer’s drugs of choice. “She was withdrawing $1,000 a week to buy pills.”
At the same time, a source close to the family claimed Messer was addicted to prescription pills.
“I’ve seen Leah pop a handful of pills, chew them like they were candy and swallow them. She doesn’t even need anything to wash them down with, but it’s [actually] the pain from withdrawal that bothers her, not her back. She can’t go a day without opiates.”
Then, on December 8, a Radar Online source claimed Messer was going through “a dark time” in late 2013, around the time the Teen Mom 2 scenes were filmed. The source also claimed Messer’s family blamed MTV for taking advantage of Messer when she wasn’t at her best.
After her daughter, Ali, 4, was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy known as Titin muscular dystrophy, “Leah was a total zombie. She was so upset and nervous. In order to calm her nerves, she was prescribed anti-anxiety pills by a doctor.”
The pill use fans saw on Teen Mom 2 wasn’t illegal. Messer was simply taking what a doctor prescribed. Still, it caused a stir online and drug rumors continued to fly.
Messer’s behavior “was a normal side effect of the pills,” Radar’s source insisted. “It took a few days for her body to adjust to the medication. She was clearly not herself.”
And Messer’s husband Jeremy wasn’t happy with her being filmed while on the medication, and “told off a cameraman for filming her in such a state,” the insider says. “He didn’t think it was right.”
“They knew the extreme stress she was going through. They took advantage of her during a difficult period,” the source continued, adding Messer has now adjusted to her medication.
In addition to the drug rumors, Messer was recently faced with pregnancy rumors, following her alleged affair with an ex. As the Inquisitr reported, Messer told fans online she was not pregnant, and not dating her ex-boyfriend, Robbie Kidd.
The Inquisitr has also recently reported that Messer’s husband, Jeremy, may have strayed from their marriage.
“People don’t know how much she suffers every day,” the insider said of the Teen Mom 2 star.
