Brian Austin Green Grateful After Car Accident

Brian Austin Green was attending the Night of Generosity gala on Friday night. He and his wife Megan Fox were being honored by Generosity.org, which is dedicated to bringing clean water to developing communities. It was one day after Green and Fox escaped what could have been a very serious car accident in Los Angeles.

On Thursday at about 9:30 p.m., Green and Fox were sideswiped near Mulholland Drive, according to TMZ. The couple’s two young children, Noah, 2, and Bodhi, 9 months, were not in the car. Green was driving and Fox was in the passenger’s seat.

At the Generosity event, Green told Us Magazine what happened and how his family is managing. He said the incident has had a significant personal impact.

“It could have ended horribly. We were talking about it today, on the way, to run errands. I was saying ‘we’re really lucky.’ He was going 50 miles an hour, and we were going 25 down the street, and we hit head-on. The inertia of that is life-changing. That’s life changing for us.”

Green explained the other driver hit the air bag, and said “the cars did their jobs.” The former Beverly Hills, 90210 actor got out of his vehicle and shook hands with the other driver. He also noted, however, that the other driver’s speed was noticeable.

“He came around the corner very fast. Let alone, I’ve heard, he had a few drinks.”

The TMZ report published shortly after the incident said the other driver’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit, according to law enforcement sources. That report said the impact was enough to blow a tire. Green and Fox were driving their Range Rover while the man who hit them was in a Mini Cooper.

People confirmed the 35-year-old driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. The publication also quoted Green at the Generosity.org event as saying he and Fox were “okay.”

“I’m okay. My wife is okay. We walked away. I mean, I’m not a doctor, so I don’t know if I’m ‘okay’ okay, but we’re both walking.”

The “what-ifs” of the accident were still plaguing Green, who also noted he is feeling grateful to be doing all right.

“Your head is reliving the moment over and over again, and you start thinking, ‘Could I have done anything differently?’ A moment of gratitude. A moment of giving back. A moment of ‘Thank you, God.’ And then a moment of, ‘I’m going to have more of these moments.'”

Green and Fox married in 2010 after dating for six years. In addition to his children with Fox, Green also has a son with Vanessa Marcil, with whom he was involved from 1999 to 2003.
