Breaking News: CM Punk Signs With UFC


Well, it was speculated before tonight’s UFC 181 that CM Punk would sign with the UFC, and now, he has.

After the first fight on pay-per-view, Joe Rogan come on-screen and talked with the new UFC fighter, and former WWE star CM Punk.

Punk said “I’m here to either kick people’s a**, or get my a** kicked.”

Rogan asked Punk if this was a one-time deal, or if this was Punk’s new career. Punk said that this is his new career, and that he will be fighting at either middleweight or welterweight.

Punk didn’t reveal which camp he will be fighting at, and as of right now, he’s unsure.

Punk said that fighting in the UFC is something that he had been contemplating for a long time, and now that he’s free from WWE, he can do it.

There hasn’t been a date set for Punk’s UFC debut, but after UFC 181, Ariel Helwani will have the first one-on-one interview with Punk since this major announcement. Punk may reveal more, but as of right now, there’s no set date for his UFC debut.

CM Punk has been out of WWE since January, and recently came out and talked about the reasons why he left WWE.

Punk has been a well-known MMA fan for some time, and UFC rival Bellator was interested in signing CM Punk after he left WWE, but, Punk wants to fight the best fighters in the world, so he decided to join the UFC.

There’s a lot of MMA purists who are likely rolling their eyes at the UFC signing CM Punk, however, there’s no question that Punk will be a big money pay-per-view draw for the UFC.

It’s unclear who Punk’s first opponent will be, and if UFC will just bring someone in to feed to Punk, rather than giving him a tough opponent like they did for Brock Lesnar back in 2008, when they matched Lesnar up with Frank Mir.

Just when people thought that CM Punk couldn’t make any more headlines, he goes ahead and makes another one. Punk fighting in the UFC should very interesting.

UFC president Dana White was asked about Punk yesterday, and today, Punk and White met before tonight’s UFC 181 event. Now, Punk has signed with the UFC. So, the decision was quick and painless.

Punk seems to be very excited about his new career, and also said that he’s “done with professional wrestling,” when talking to Joe Rogan.
