One Direction Fans Make Larry Stylinson One Of 2014’s Most-Shipped Couples

Larry Stylinson will never be real, but some One Direction fans just can’t stop shipping Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. In fact, obsessive Directioners have shared so many gay Tumblr fantasies about the straight band mates that Harry and Louis were recently named one of the most shipped couples of the year.

According to E! News, Larry Stylinson landed on Tumblr’s list of the 20 Most Reblogged Ships of 2014. For those who have no clue what the title of this list means, Tumblr was kind enough to share an official definition for the word “ship” as it applies to fandoms that like to fantasize about fictional relationships.

“Ship: (noun) Short for ‘relationship,’ an imagined romantic pairing of two people, fictional or otherwise.”

Larry Stylinson came in third place on the list, but Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson were the top Tumblr fantasy couple composed of real people. Destiel (Dean Winchester and Castiel from Supernatural) came in first place, followed by Johnlock (John Watson and Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock). The top five couples were rounded out by fourth place finisher Captain Swan (Captain Hook and Emma Swan from Once Upon a Time) and Ereri (Eren Jaeger and Levi Ackerman from Attack on Titan).

Unlike most other shippers, Larry lovers actually believe that their ship is the real deal. They’ve come up with a conspiracy theory that Louis and Harry are involved in a secret gay relationship, and that Tomlinson’s girlfriend, Eleanor Calder, is just a “beard.”

Louis Tomlinson probably won’t be very happy to learn that he and Harry Styles finished so high up on the list — the One Direction singer has made it very clear that he’s not a fan of Larry Stylinson shippers.

According to Advocate, Louis Tomlinson lashed out at a Larry shipper on Twitter in 2012. The fan’s message that drew his ire read, “Funny that no matter what happens they will never deny Larry.”

Tomlinson didn’t spare the shipper’s feelings in his response.

Louis’ harsh words obviously didn’t stop Larry Stylinson shippers from fantasizing about their favorite imaginary One Direction couple. Tumblr might be the best place to share loving Larry GIFs and dirty fan-fics, but Directioners also enjoy tweeting about Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson’s imaginary gay relationship.

Louis might hate it when this faction of One Direction fans claims that he’s secretly gay, but their Larry Stylinson Tumblrs and tweets probably don’t bother Harry Styles too much. Unlike Louis, Harry has never gotten angry or upset about rumors that he’s secretly gay. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Harry even recently stated that gender isn’t important when it comes to love. This led to feverish fan speculation that Styles is either gay or bisexual, but it’s likely that Harry was just joking.
