‘GTA V’ Developer Not Ready To Talk About The Launch Of Online Heists Just Yet

Just before the current-gen release of Grand Theft Auto V brought the open-world franchise to the Xbox One and Playstation 4 last month, the Inquisitr reported that the game’s highly anticipated co-op heist missions would finally be heading to the online multiplayer mode of GTA V across all systems with the title’s next major content update.

Now that it has been several weeks since the remastered editions of GTA V launched on the new platforms, many fans are growing concerned over the current status of online heists. Fears that the cooperative robberies may have once again been delayed are on the rise considering Rockstar Games initially stated that online heists would be added in the first update after the game was released on the Xbox One and Playstation 4. However, multiple GTA V title updates have since been deployed in that time, but co-op heists missions still have not yet been implemented.

After fans tried to receive more information on exactly when they should expect co-op heist missions to be introduced to GTA V, the developer revealed on their official support site that they have no information to share at this time regarding the status of online heists. Users were simply instructed to keep visiting Rockstar’s blog to stay up to date on all future GTA V content. For now, players will simply have to wait for additional details on heists since Rockstar Games has now gone silent on the subject.

Rockstar Games first announced that there would be cooperative heists missions within Grand Theft Auto V’s online mode before the game even released on last-gen platforms in 2013. In that time, fans have been waiting on the release of the large-scale robberies. Once the multiplayer content is finally launched, gamers will be able to enjoy the excitement of GTA V‘s single-player heist jobs while playing alongside their friends in GTA Online.

While users await the release of online heists, the mature title has now been pulled from two major Australian retailers as a result of consumer outcry against the GTA V’s extreme violence. Australian chains of both Target and K-Mart have decided to no longer sale Grand Theft Auto V on any platform. Following the ban, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick told Kotaku that the publisher is disappointed in the retailers’ decision to remove GTA V from their stores. Zelnick went on to say that he still supports Rockstar Games and the products they create despite the recent controversy.

“Interactive entertainment is today’s most compelling art form and shares the same creative freedom as books, television, and movies. I stand behind our products, the people who create them, and the consumers who play them.”

Grand Theft Auto V is now available on the Xbox One and PS4 in addition to last-gen consoles. The latest installment of the popular series is also scheduled for release on PC in early 2015.
