‘Black Widow’ Hid Her Cyanide In Plant Soil: Possibly Killed 7 Male Partners To Inherit Millions

Chisako Kakehi, 68, is a millionairess who was arrested last month or the murder of her 75-year-old spouse. According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), the “Black Widow,” as Japanese police call her, gained one billion yen ($8.5 million) in insurance and other forms of payment over the past 10 years after the deaths of multiple spouses and lovers.

The Daily Mail reports that investigators believe this “Black Widow” poisoned her most recent spouse, Isao, last December with cyanide. Kakehi had discarded several plant pots and left them at a recycling center approximately six months after her husband died.

Upon inspection of these planters, a bag was discovered at the bottom of one of the pots. It was determined by the police lab that cyanide compounds were found.

This raised many questions, since this “Black Widow” had inherited so much money from the deaths of seven men who keeled over in the span of less than a decade. And each man had one common denominator: Chisako Kakehi.

APF reports that since the death of her spouse in 1994, Kakehi has been involved with more than 10 men, of which seven have died.

According to the Daily Mail, reports indicate that Kakehi was targeting older men who were ill, yet wealthy, in order to collect on their insurance and inherit any assets.

It is also reported that cyanide was found in the body of one of the men who died prior to her most recent marriage.

The “Black Widow” maintained an apartment south of Kyoto, which police raided and found traces of cyanide in the trash, paraphernalia for administering drugs, and medical books.

Kakehi maintains her innocence.
