Woman Stolen iPhone: Starbucks Employee Asks Woman To Leave After She Finds iPhone Thief

A woman tracked her stolen iPhone at a local Starbucks, but when she arrived, an employee asked her to leave. According to ABC Fresno, Jana Erwin had her iPhone stolen by a teenager. She said she was on a busy street when the youngster asked to borrow her phone so that he could call his mom. Not thinking much of it, Erwin asked the boy the number, dialed, and then handed over her iPhone when someone answered… but the boy had no intention of talking on the phone; he took off with it.

Erwin was able to track the phone, and found it (and the boy) at a Starbucks in Houston. Erwin entered the coffee shop in hopes of finding the thief, but before she could really do anything to get her phone back, she was asked to leave the establishment.

“I decided to grab my phone. And when I did the girl [sitting with the thief] instantly said ‘he was selling me the phone I don’t know him, I don’t know anything.’ I was screaming to the people in Starbucks, ‘please someone call the police,'” said Erwin.

The woman, her stolen iPhone, and a Starbucks employee were then at a standstill.

“I’m sorry ma’am, you have to go. You have to go. You can’t do this here,” the barista reportedly told her.

Erwin had no choice but to leave Starbucks, and the suspect got away again. Stressed out to the max, Erwin had to watch her iPhone leave her sight with its wrongful owner for the second time in one day.

This story does have a happy ending, however. The woman and her iPhone have been reunited. According to Yahoo! News, Erwin was upset by the people who were in Starbucks that did nothing to help her.

Starbucks released a statement saying that one of their baristas contacted the police, and that “customer safety” is their top priority.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Starbucks baristas have great jobs. In 2015, employees of the franchise will enjoy more perks, such as higher wages, free food, and freedom of expression (they will be allowed to show off their ink).

“[In January], all baristas and shift supervisors will also receive a raise and experienced partners will be eligible for a “lump sum increase” to reward tenure. Pay reviews will be annual,” reports the Inquisitr.

Starbucks is clearly doing something right.
