LeAnn Rimes: Rockefeller Center Performance Slammed As ‘Inappropriate’ And ‘Too Sexy’

LeAnn Rimes may not have captured the true spirit of Christmas when she performed at the tree-lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center.

The singer gave a performance of “I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas” while sporting a leather corset, leaving many viewers feeling a bit uneasy and prompting many to take to social media to criticize her choice of attire.

E! News noted that both LeAnn Rimes and Mariah Carey seemed to be dressed for controversy.

“LeAnn Rimes and Mariah Carey were among the stars who hit the stage for the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting event in New York City on Wednesday night, and they were not shy about flaunting their curves in front of the thousands who gathered for the ceremony.

“LeAnn took the stage wearing a black bustier and form-fitting skirt with a high slit that revealed her black thigh-high stockings and an oversized coat that was falling off of her shoulders during the high-energy performance.”

Many people on Twitter felt the same way. LeAnn Rimes herself became a trending topic on the microblogging site, and many of the reviews of her performance were not positive.

LeAnn Rimes herself has been experiencing a Christmans-related career boost. Aside from her much-talked-about performance at the Rockefeller Center tree lighting, the 32-year-old singer has also recently released “One Christmas: Chapter 1,” the first of three planned holiday-themed EPs. In the album Rimes covered some traditional sings including “Silent Night Holy Night” and “Blue Christmas” as well as the controversy inducing “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.”
