Did Mariah Carey Lose Her NBC Tree Lighting Performance Spot?

Mariah Carey reportedly bailed on her scheduled taped performance for the NBC tree lighting ceremony at the Rockefeller Center on Tuesday night.

TMZ reports that Mariah was actually in her East Side hotel, discussing her divorce from Nick Cannon on the phone with her lawyer. According to people that overheard the conversation, the tone of the call was peaceful since she was just going over the terms of their property settlement.

However, the 44-year-old diva did not show up to the Rockefeller Center until more than three hours after she was supposed to be there — and was still on the phone with her lawyer discussing issues with her divorce even after she arrived.

NBC executives as well as the crew were reportedly enraged by the situation and Mariah Carey’s team was told to go home. It was clear that the network had enough, even though Mariah was really looking forward to being able to perform.

According to Zap2It, Mariah Carey was supposed to open the tree lighting ceremony with a performance of her hit holiday song, All I Want for Christmas is You.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the 2014 NBC tree lighting ceremony will be held on Wednesday, December 3. The annual holiday event will be broadcast live at 8 P.M. as part of the Christmasin Rockefeller television special.

If Mariah Carey does not perform at the tree lighting ceremony, there will still be other performers on hand — including Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, Sara Bareilles, Trisha Yearwood, Leann Rimes, Seth MacFarlane, Darius Rucker, Prince Royce, and the famous Rockettes — along with appearances by other celebrities.

However, even with the other scheduled performances, the 85-foot Norway spruce will definitely be the star and highlight of the show. The 13-ton tree will reportedly be decorated with 45,000 LED lights in addition to the Swarovski star with a width of nine and a half feet that will be used to top it.

While it is clear that Mariah Carey and her estranged husband Nick Cannon are moving forward with the divorce proceedings, it is also clear that they are keeping the happiness of their kids a top priority. After spending Thanksgiving together as a family in Cannon’s Los Angeles home, Mariah and the kids left Nick’s home and headed for a hotel.

Do you think that Mariah Carey will still be able to make an appearance at the Wednesday broadcast? Or, was she booted from the schedule permanently because of clearly being preoccupied on Tuesday night?
