Chris Rock compared Obama to Shaq, and sort of dissed the POTUS during his interview with New York Magazine. According to the Business Insider, the actor/comedian spoke candidly about Barack Obama, and talked about how he has been as President. Speaking in basketball terms, Rock points out that most people were hoping for Michael Jordan when Obama was elected (and re-elected). Instead, they got Shaq — or Charles Barkley. Still good — just not the best.
“I’m trying to figure out the right analogy. Everybody wanted Michael Jordan, right? We got Shaq. That’s not a disappointment. You know what I mean? We got Charles Barkley. It’s still a Hall of Fame career. The president should be graded on jobs and peace, and the other stuff is debatable. Do more people have jobs, and is there more peace? I guess there’s a little more peace. Not as much peace as we’d like, but I mean, that’s kind of the gig.”
Chris Rock comparing Obama to Shaq is something that a lot of people understand. And while it might sound like Rock isn’t an Obama fan, he didn’t throw too much shade at the Prez. In fact, he redeemed himself by saying that he thought Obama was “cool.”
“I always say, cooler than most politicians, not as cool as actual cool people. He’s not cool like Jay Z’s cool. He’s not Eddie Murphy. But in a world of politicians … “
According to CNN, Rock doesn’t think that Obama gets enough credit for keeping the country steady. He says that if Obama let the country flatline and then brought it back, people would have a different opinion of him. To explain his opinion, Rock used another metaphor.
“You know, we’ve all been on planes that had tremendous turbulence, but we forget all about it. Now, if you live through a plane crash, you’ll never forget that. Maybe Obama should have let the plane crash. You get credit for bringing somebody back from the dead. You don’t really get credit for helping a sick person by administering antibiotics.”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Chris Rock also talked about Ferguson, racism, and how the rich live. His comments have gone viral online this week, and everyone seems to be talking about them.
Much respect to @chrisrock with his interview on the Presidency. We need more down to Earth minds, like yours!
