‘Suicide Squad’ Director, Cast In ‘Final Talks,’ Production Dates & Location Revealed

Blockbusters are usually shrouded in secrecy, but there seems to be an exception with Suicide Squad — brought to us by DC Entertainment — for which there is news of a director and cast already in ‘final talks’ attached to the project.

According to a report on Screen Rant new updates — which have steadily been revealed since the film was announced by Warner Bros. — indicate that Fury director David Ayer is moving forward in talks to helm Suicide Squad. In October, Coming Soon reported the studio was looking at Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney, and Will Smith for villain roles in the film.

In yet another report, the Hollywood Reporter says that filming will be set at Pinewood Studios in Toronto, with pre-production starting in February 2015 and principal photography scheduled for mid-April through September.

Suicide Squad is slated to be released August 5, 2016 and will be the third in the series of nine films announced earlier this year by Warner Bros. The first was the 2013 blockbuster Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill in the role of Superman and directed by Zack Snyder.

Following the latest version of the classic comic book story, Snyder took on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in which two of the best loved superheroes face-off for the first time in movies history. Ben Affleck will play the Caped Crusader and filming is currently underway in New Mexico, which is presumably the last leg of the production.

For the Suicide Squad, Ayers will be joined by producer Dan Lin and Justin Marks will write the script.

Aside from the actors already mention, there were rumors that Jesse Eisenberg would reprise the role of villain Lex Luthor from Batman v Superman, but his schedule seems to be packed. Another name floating around is that of Oscar winner Jared Leto, who is reportedly in talks to play The Joker.

Leto has hinted he is talking to the studio, however, he is keeping quiet as he is supposedly “sworn to secrecy.” This confirms the news that WB is looking for top talent to compete with Marvel and move the DC Universe forward.
