Rosie O’Donnell ‘Won’t Last Another Season’ With Whoopi Goldberg As ‘The View’ Moderator

Rumors have been swirling about Rosie O’Donnell’s uncertain future on The View for months, but new information is emerging that goes beyond on-camera confrontations occurring between Rosie and Whoopi Goldberg as well as between O’Donnell and the rest of the cast.

Speculation about whether or not O’Donnell might be getting axed has reportedly been confirmed by TMZ through an inside source within the The View’s production team. The source says that Rosie and Whoopi have clashed heads over the direction that the show should take. He also insinuated that O’Donnell may be jealous of Goldberg’s central role on the show.

But that’s not the only thing the source says about Rosie. Apparently the brusque attitude that she employs with her fellow cast members like Whoopi isn’t just for the stage: They’re all fed-up with O’Donnell’s disrespect. That is, of course, if she has any contact with Goldberg and the rest of the cast at all. The source says the Rosie is sullen and withdrawn most of the time.

O’Donnell’s future is looking especially grim due to the low ratings that have followed her on to The View. Blame is falling onto Rosie’s shoulders, as ratings have slid even further since she joined the show — especially in the pivotal younger audiences. TMZ’s source says that instead of Whoopi or another counterpart, O’Donnell is likely to get canned.

“The honchos have tried talking with Rosie but they say it’s like talking to a wall. They doubt she will even finish the season and another season we’re told is ‘out of the question.'”

If O’Donnell does get dropped, Goldberg may be joined by former The View hosts Sherri Shepherd and Joy Behar, according to an inside source who spoke with the Daily Mail.

“Both Sherri and Joy had huge followings while on the show and their familiarity could be just the thing to spark interest in the show again and generate some positive buzz.”

Even though things haven’t looked great between Whoopi and the rest of The View’s cast with Rosie lately, it is possible that’s just the nature of a program which discusses controversial topics. O’Donnell’s rep denied the rumors that Rosie is on her way out to TMZ.

“This is absolutely false! Whoopi Goldberg has been the moderator since Whoopi was hired and Rosie knew that before she took the job.”
