Florida Woman Shot With Arrows: Florida Man Shoots Mom With Arrows, Blames Her For ‘Giving His Dad Cancer’

A Florida woman was shot with arrows, and killed by her own son. According to CBS News, Gloria Watkins of Okaloosa County, Florida, was shot with a gun, stabbed, and shot with arrows until she died. Her son, Michael Watkins, 42, reportedly confessed to the crime. He claimed that his mom “stole his diamonds and also gave his father cancer.” The gruesome murder happened around 2 a.m. on Sunday.

“Watkins was charged with murder and resisting arrest without violence. The sheriff’s office said Watkins ignored repeated commands to get on the ground. After eventually complying, he stood up and retrieved a large knife from a sheath on his belt,” according to authorities.

A stun gun was used to subdue him.

The Florida woman shot with arrows was found by police, slumped over in a chair with the arrows in her head. According to the Salina Journal, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a man who was causing disruption in the neighborhood. He was “knocking over Christmas decorations” and yelling at someone.

Mr. Watkins told authorities that he was forced to kill his mother because she tried to kill him first. It’s unknown if the two had a previous history of abuse, or if they had gotten into a verbal altercation before Mr. Watkins decided to murder his own mother. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, an autopsy on Ms. Watkins is pending.

“An autopsy will be conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the official cause of death, whether it be bow and arrow, gunshot, or knife inflicted,” reports the Inquisitr.

Meanwhile, Mr. Watkins is in jail.

The Florida woman shot with arrows was just 65-years-old. It is unknown if she had any other children, or what exactly happened to her husband, who apparently had or has cancer. It sounds like there may have been family turmoil brewing for quite some time. Reports failed to specify whether or not Mr. Watkins lived at home with his mother, or if he just showed up at her house and murdered her. It’s also unknown where he got the weapons that he used to kill his mom, or if the gun he used was registered.

More details are expected to become available as police investigate further. Mr. Watkins will be in court to face his fate soon.
