Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf Could Be Returning To The Big Screen To The Delight of Children Across The Globe In Frozen 2

The voice of the Ice Queen Elsa, Idina Menzel, recently shared, to the delight of children across the world, that Frozen 2 is in the works.

Last winter Frozen-mania took over the big screen. The movie’s hit song, “Let It Go, became the theme song for kids between one and 15.

This holiday season the Elsa Snowflake doll is projected to be the number one selling toy, bumping Barbie off of her throne. Disney has also reported that over 3 million Frozen dresses have been sold in 2014, reports The Washington Post.

Now Frozen fans can choose from Frozen headphones, soup, a toilet lid cover, and more.

The word that Frozen 2 was in the works began to circulate back in February when Disney’s chief Bob Inger hinted about the movie’s franchise potential.

Talk about a sequel was silenced for a while, when Disney chairman Alan Horn said that the studio was focusing on a stage adaption before a Frozen 2 would be discussed. Now Frozen star Idina Menzel has breathed hope into kids across the world by stating Frozen 2 is in the works, reports People.

We really should have expected a Frozen 2. Any movie that brings in over a billion dollars just in ticket sales is bound to have a sequel. Disney, however, doesn’t have the highest quality reputation, in decades past, with sequels. Usually Disney sequels have much smaller budgets, unimpressive writing and often times they are relegated to home video release only. It is rare to find an animated Disney sequel that beats the original, or even comes close to competing. If any movie can break the Disney sequel curse it is Frozen 2.

But before we get too excited about Frozen 2, we must remember that “in the works” doesn’t always mean the movie is going to be made. From what Menzel shared the movie appears to be in the very early stages and no cast members have been signed up as of yet.

No news has been shared about the possible story line, but if Disney goes with tradition it could very likely be about Elsa and Anna’s children.

When Menzel was asked if she would return to play the Ice Queen said she was hopeful she would play Elsa again.

There is no information out there about when either the stage show or Frozen 2 will happen, but fans have the Frozen short film to look forward to. The short film called Frozen Fever will be about Princess Anna’s birthday. Look for Frozen Fever to be released sometime in the Spring of 2015.
