Courtney Love Lied About Being Lindsay Lohan’s Sober Coach

A rep for Lindsay Lohan has shot down claims that rocker Courtney Love was giving the Mean Girls star sobriety advice.

“Completely untrue. Not now, not in the past, never,” her publicist, Steve Honig, told The Famous.

The rumors first started following an interview in the December issue of Details Magazine, in which Love, 47, explained that she’d “taken up Lohan because nobody else” would.

Courtney went on to say that Lohan – who has been in and out of jail and rehab in recent years, tackling both booze and illegal substance issues – was “further down the line than I was, because there was no TMZ then.”

Having herself gone through a 12-step program in order to kick her drug habit, Love shared that she once attempted to “scare” LiLo straight by using a personal story as an example, according to Radar online.

“I went up to Lindsay’s room one time and there was a show on called ‘101 Celebrity Oops’ and I am like every other one, you know – boobs out, legs everywhere, throwing s–t at Madonna, you know, whatever. I’m like ‘Lindsay, look! Drugs are bad!'”

Despite the rocker’s detailed accounts of coaching, Lohan’s spokesman insists Love is not the star’s sober mentor – she’s just a supportive pal.

“Courtney Love is not, nor has she ever been, Lindsay’s sober coach,” Lohan’s publicist told ABCNews.com. ”Lindsay is, however, grateful for her friendship.”
