Linkin Park Teams Up With Flingo to Reach Fans on Smart TVs


Linkin Park have inked a deal with Flingo, a publisher of applications for smart TVs, to have an official band app created.

The nu-rockers and Flingo are working in collaboration on the Linkin Park app, which will utilize the smart TV as a platform to distribute video, behind-the-scenes footage of studio sessions and concerts, photos and tour dates. Smart TVs from Insignia, LG, Samsung, Vizio, Sanyo, Western Digital, and Netgear devices will soon .

Here’s Linkin Park sampler Joe Hahn with some press release spiel:

“Flingo provides us with a new way to connect with our fans and give them immediate access to our videos. With our app available in the newest Internet Connected HD TVs, we know our videos are going to look great and sound amazing. Plus, the app gives us total creative control over the format and frequency of which we can reach viewers and listeners, an uncommon luxury for most musicians today.”

The rest of Flingo’s release said things such as “Flingo’s application publishing suite […] enables an ecosystem where media companies, artists and brand sponsors converge on consumer hardware platforms,” so I’ll have to be honest and say I couldn’t stomach reading the whole thing.

But what say you, smart TV-owning Linkin Park fans – think you’ll be picking this up? Better question: just how many smart TV-owning Linkin Park fans are out there? Seems like rather a limited audience …
