Darren Wilson And Wife Expecting First Child As Mike Brown’s Parents Mourn Loss Of Son Wilson Killed

Darren Wilson and his wife are expecting their first child, Wilson told ABC TV, less than four months after Police Officer Wilson killed the son of Michael Brown Sr. and Lesley McSpadden. As is now known around the world, Wilson was not indicted by a grand jury looking into his killing of Michael Brown on August 9 in Ferguson, Missouri.

Wilson, 28, had been married once previously before he wed Barbara Spradling, 37, on October 24. Barely a month later, Wilson said, his wife is pregnant. He did not reveal when she is expected to deliver the child.

Also in the ABC interview, Wilson complained that his life has been “stressful” since he killed Brown, in what he described in testimony as a ferocious and terrifying confrontation with Brown, a “demon” the size of “Hulk Hogan,” according to the officer’s account.

“You’re always looking, you’re always wondering if someone’ll recognize you, if someone is following you. Just every possibility you can think of,” Wilson said, explaining the precautions he now feels he must take for his personal safety. “From where you sit in the restaurant to, you know, where you drive, everything has to run through your head. It’s every time you walk, you make sure no one’s following you, everything.”

While ABC got the exclusive sit-down with Darren Wilson to talk about his wife and other aspects of his personal life, similar to the treatment given to celebrities by television interviewers, the parents of the slain Michael Brown appeared on other networks, expressing their anguish at Wilson’s remarks, and his account of the how and why he killed their son.

According to Wilson’s story — which some in the media have deemed “unbelievable,” as well as reflective of deeply ingrained racial stereotypes about black people — Brown reacted with extreme aggression, profanity and taunts when Wilson politely asked him and friend to walk on the sidewalk instead of the street.

Wilson claimed that Brown punched him twice in the face and that a third punch, he feared, could be “fatal,” though photos of Wilson taken after the incident showed only barely noticeable redness on his face.

“For one, my son, he respected law enforcement,” Brown Sr. said in a Today Show interview on NBC. “Two, who in their right mind would rush or charge at a police officer that has his gun drawn? It sounds crazy.”

Wilson also told ABC that he had a “clean” conscience about slaying the 18-year-old Brown.

“His conscience was clear?” a tearful McSpadden said on CBS TV. “How could your conscience be clear after killing someone, even if it was an accidental death?”

Darren Wilson told ABC that he is unsure of the future for him and his wife, because he feels compelled to resign from the police force due to fears for his safety.
