Man Defend Girlfriend: Man Tries To Defend Girlfriend From Catcaller, Gets Stabbed

A man tried to defend his girlfriend, but ended up getting stabbed on the street in San Francisco. According to Yahoo! News, Ben Schwartz, 31, a man was making comments toward his girlfriend, Miyoko Moody, but instead of ignoring the comments, Schwartz spoke up.

“Girls walk down the street every day and have guys saying things to them, and if a girl denies that or shows some sort of aggression toward that, that can bring unwarranted things,” said Schwartz. “When we tried to get away from the situation and cross the street, we were followed, and the harassment got even more intense. I was scared for me. I was scared for my girlfriend. I told her to stay on one side of the street, and I went to tell him to stop.”

The man chose to defend his girlfriend, which some men would actually do, but he never expected what happened next. The catcaller pulled out a blade, and started stabbing Schwartz. He was stabbed a total of nine times before the suspect jumped in a car and sped away. Schwartz was left in serious condition, suffering a punctured lung, and needing 60 stitches. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Saturday.

He says that he wants people to know his story because he doesn’t want anyone else to find themselves in his position.

“I just don’t want this to happen to anybody else,” he said.

According to Madame Noire, there has been a GoFundMe page set up to help Schwartz get through this difficult time. So far, over $30,000 has been raised of the $25,000 goal. The page was created by Miyoko, who thinks that her boyfriend’s actions were super sweet.

“I think I can speak for myself and of all of Ben’s friends when I say he is the sweetest most loving friend out there. He is there when you need a good laugh, a hug, or even just someone to listen to you. It’s shocking to think something like this could happen to such an amazing person,” Miyoko wrote on the GoFundMe page.

The man stabbed for trying to defend his girlfriend is recovering after surgery. He seems to be doing well. Police are investigating the case, and still searching for the suspect. Of course, Ben and Miyoko hope the suspect is caught and brought to justice. It is unknown if he would be charged with harassment or just the assault.
