‘Big Brother’ Star Frankie Grande Goes Shirtless To AMAs — Except For Body Paint

Frankie J. Grande is perhaps one of the few people who could wear body paint to a red carpet event and pull it off. Tonight, he did just that at the American Music Awards, opting for a drawn-on button-up shirt instead of mere fabric. Paired with stylish pink jeans and his trademark pink hair, his sketched pink bow tie had several internet commentators singing his praises… or at least commenting on the look.

Bustleweighed in with a hat-tip to Grande’s fashion statement.

“From the pink bowtie, to the expert levels of shading, this is one convincing fake piece of clothing. It’s business in the front, party also in the front, on the sides, and in the back… Yeah. Everyone can go home. Frankie Grande just won the red carpet.”

TooFab summed it up in a few words.

“Yeah, it was definitely different.”

Perez Hilton wondered whether Grande’s famous sibling, pop star Ariana, liked the stripped-down look on her older brother.

“His look was not to be missed! Though after soaking in a look as interesting as this, we can only wonder whether Ariana approved it or not.”

Whether Ariana liked the body paint is as yet unknown, but she sent out a tweet of love and support to Frankie before the broadcast.

Frankie was tapped to host the Coca-Cola red carpet at the AMAs this year. US Magazine noted his pink bow tie served to add “a little formality” to his ensemble. He took the time to tweet out his excitement earlier today, and gave an acknowledgement to the makeup artist, Diana McCallister, who gave him the unique look.

In addition to his membership in the Grande clan, Frankie is known to reality television audiences as an alum of this summer’s installment of Big Brother in the U.S. He kept his famous sister a secret inside the house until a pivotal point in the game.

Tonight there will be a Grande outside the AMA venue and a Grande inside. As Frankie covers the red carpet, Ariana is set to perform with Nicki Minaj and Jessie J. She is not set to go home with any awards tonight, as she was shut out of nominations this year.
