In a Cleveland shooting around 7:30 p.m. on Friday night, four people were murdered and one injured in what is one of the most shocking murder-mysteries yet. Among the victims of the shooting was a 41-year-old woman who was 28 weeks pregnant at the time. Details of the Cleveland shooting are all relayed by a 9-year-old girl, who fate, in a twisted act, placed at the scene of the crime.
According to NBC News, the woman, along with her two children — aged 2 and 9 — drove to a house on the East side of Cleveland with the purpose of retrieving some clothes. When they arrived at the house, the pregnant woman sent her 9-year-old inside to collect the clothing. Once inside the Cleveland home, what the child found was nothing short of gruesome. She discovered the lifeless bodies of two men and a girl — aged 60, 19, and 17, respectively — the first victims of the Cleveland shooting. As if this were not enough to leave her traumatized, soon after, the gunman entered wearing a mask.
The girl reported that the man ran towards her and fired a shot which grazed her chest. He then proceeded outside to the car, where he shot and killed her mother. The girl’s brother, a toddler, was in the back seat of the vehicle at the time the shooting occurred, but was unharmed.
From Daily Mail reports, Calvin Williams, Cleveland Police Chief, had a few things to say about the Cleveland shooting, stating “only an animal” could be so cruel as to do something of that nature to another human being. The motive behind the Cleveland shooting has yet been determined, but Williams acknowledges the difficulty that comes with having an eye witness that is so young.
“It’s always good to have a witness, but it’s tough for a 10-year-old, especially being both a victim and a witness. But right now our guys are investigating,” the Cleveland police chief explained via Reuters.
The Cleveland shooting has left police bewildered, but the chief stated with certainty that there is someone bearing all the answers related to the shooting that they are seeking at the moment.
“There’s somebody out there who knows a lot more than we know and we need that information… We don’t want to speculate on why this happened.”
On a similarly disheartening note, earlier this week the Inquisitr reported on a New Jersey shooting that left two dead and two injured. According to ABC News reports, unlike the Cleveland shooting, this shooting incident was actually a murder-suicide — the mother shot all three of her children before turning the gun on herself, attempting to end their lives.
Both the New Jersey and the Cleveland shootings, though seemingly driven by different motives, point to a more deep-seated problem that we face in our society — that of human nature.
